APD Releases Update on Skeletal Remains Found near Hospital

SHARE NOW

Auburn Police have released new information regarding the skeletal remains found over the summer at the construction site near Auburn Community Hospital.

According to police, a forensic anthropology analysis conducted by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined the bones belonged to one individual who was likely a white male between the ages of 25-35 and 5’5″-6′ tall. Additionally, no evidence of postmortem fractures was found, but there is evidence that mortuary preservative chemicals were used on the body prior to burial.

Due to soil adherence and soil staining, police believe the remains have been in the ground for over 50 years.

The remains were reported on June 25 by a contractor working at the site.

The investigation into the remains is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Auguello at 315-258-9880 or [email protected].
