The Cayuga County man accused of severing a kitten’s spinal cord, eventually leading to its death, has pled not guilty to animal cruelty charges in Cayuga County Court on Thursday.
22-year-old Jeremy McNair was arrested in August after allegedly throwing a 13-week-old kitten, severing its spinal cord and causing other severe injuries. He is also accused of failing to provide the kitten with any medical attention.
The animal was euthanized after it was determined that it would likely never regain voluntary function.
McNair was charged with one felony aggravated animal cruelty charge and two misdemeanor counts of torturing or injuring animals and failure to provide sustenance.
McNair is set to appear in court again on December 12.
