Canandaigua resident Caeley Wilt received the BEE Award from University of Rochester Medicine Thompson Health on May 1. Wilt works as a patient care technician in the Observation Unit at F.F. Thompson Hospital.

A team of hospital representatives, including the Chief Nursing Officer, surprised Wilt with the award in her unit.

Nurse Leader Charlene Mathes nominated Wilt, describing her as someone who consistently meets patient needs. “She not only is an outstanding caregiver, but she is respected by the nurses, the providers, and other PCTs,” Mathes said, noting Wilt also served as a preceptor for many other patient care technicians.

Mathes added that Wilt serves on the hospital’s PCT Practice Council and participates in quality improvement initiatives.

The BEE Award, which stands for Being Exceptional Every day, was developed by Thompson Health in 2025 to recognize non-licensed nursing support team members.

Nominations for the award can be submitted at www.ThompsonHealth.com/BEE.
