Finger Lakes Health is celebrating National Nurses Week from May 6-12, recognizing the critical role nurses play in delivering high-quality care and honoring their commitment to patients, families, and communities.
Nurses at Finger Lakes Health provide expert clinical care, compassion, advocacy, and coordination to ensure patients receive support throughout their healthcare journey.
“National Nurses Week is an opportunity to meaningfully recognize our dedicated nursing teams. The quality care, compassion, and clinical expertise that our nurses bring to our patients, care givers and to the community we serve is something to be celebrated not just today, but every day. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to our nurses and honor their accomplishments,” said Gregory Hoffman-Fragale, DNP, MHA, RN, NEA-BC, CCRN, GERO-BC, CENP, LNHA, Finger Lakes Health Chief Nursing Officer.
This week acknowledges the sacrifices nurses make and highlights their contributions to advancing patient care, improving outcomes, and driving innovation across Finger Lakes Health. The observance also celebrates excellence in the profession, recognizing leadership, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing advancements. The week concludes on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
Finger Lakes Health marks the week with various activities, including themed daily recognition, leadership rounding, guest speakers, ice cream socials, and small tokens of appreciation for nursing staff.
As the demand for skilled, compassionate nurses continues to grow, Finger Lakes Health supports the next generation of caregivers. Individuals interested in a nursing career can explore educational opportunities at affiliated nursing schools, Marion S. Whelan School of Practical Nursing and FLH College of Nursing & Health Sciences, and consider joining the Finger Lakes Health team.
