Auburn Inmate to Get More Prison Time for Toilet Water Incident

SHARE NOW

An inmate at Auburn Correctional Facility admitted in court this week to throwing toilet water at correction officers and carrying a homemade weapon.

Nando Hernandez pleaded guilty in Cayuga County Court to aggravated harassment of an employee by an incarcerated individual and first-degree promoting prison contraband.

Court records show that on October 8, 2024, Hernandez threw a cup of toilet water at two officers. Prosecutors say he was also found with a makeshift weapon fashioned from a razor blade.

He’s scheduled to be sentenced on June 2 and faces two to four years on each charge. The sentences will run at the same time but will be added on to the prison term he’s already serving.

Chief Assistant District Attorney Christopher T. Valdina prosecuted the case.
