Route 90 Bridge Closure in Montezuma Begins Today

SHARE NOW

The New York State Thruway Authority reminds drivers that the Route 90 bridge over I-90 in the Town of Montezuma will temporarily close to traffic starting today (March 4). The closure is expected to last about three weeks as contractors perform necessary bridge work.

During the closure, an 11-mile detour will be in place. Motorists heading to Route 90 south of the Thruway should follow: Route 31 west → Route 89 south → Route 20 east → Route 90.

The project is being handled by Slate Hill Constructors, Inc. of Warners. Work is weather-dependent, and schedules may change. Variable Message Signs are posted in the area to alert drivers.

Drivers may also encounter lane closures on I-90 near the bridge. Motorists are urged to follow posted work zone speed limits; fines are doubled in these areas.

Approximately 2,600 vehicles cross this bridge daily, so plan extra travel time and follow the detour while the work is underway.
