An Auburn man is facing grand larceny charges after deputies say he allegedly stole more than $1,400 in lithium batteries from Bass Pro Shops in December.
Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck reports that on December 16, deputies responded to a larceny complaint at the Clark Street Road store. Investigators say Cuatt and another man went to the marine section, removed security devices from three lithium batteries, placed them in a cart, and left the store without paying. The total value of the stolen items was $1,429.97.
Cuatt was later located in Auburn by State Police on an unrelated matter. Deputies took him into custody and transported him to the Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment.
The status of the other alleged suspect is not known.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
