Community Comes Together: 419 Turkeys Donated in Waterloo Turkey Drop-Off

The “1st Ever Great Turkey Drop-Off” wrapped up in Waterloo on Sunday with a major show of community support, collecting 419 donated turkeys for local families in need.

The three-day event, hosted by FLX Local Media’s Classic Hits 99.3 in partnership with Wilkins RV, Reister’s Appliances, Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes, and Music for the Mission, ran through noon Sunday in the Walmart parking lot.

In addition to the turkey donations, Catholic Charities received more than $900 in monetary contributions and hundreds of dollars in non-perishable food items, all of which will help stock programs serving families across Cayuga, Seneca, and Ontario counties.

Shoppers were encouraged to purchase frozen turkeys inside Walmart and drop them off directly at the RV and freezer setup. Donors who were unable to make it in person were still able to make purchases online through the Catholic Charities website.

Classic Hits 99.3’s Lisa Cruz, who broadcast live throughout the weekend, thanked the community, saying she was “overwhelmed by the generosity of listeners, shoppers, sponsors, and everyone who helped make this first-ever event such a success.”
