Man Gets Max Sentence for Burglary, Assaulting 91-Year-Old Auburn Relative

The man who assaulted a 91-year-old woman nearly one year ago in Auburn has received the maximum sentence for his crimes.

Cayuga County District Attorney Brittnay Grome Antonacci announced Thursday that Steven Walsh was sentenced to 25 years in prison, followed by five years post-release supervision for First Degree Burglary by Judge Thomas Leone. Walsh was also sentenced to seven years in prison, followed by three years post-release supervision for Assault, 28 months to seven years for Aggravated Criminal Contempt, and 364 days in jail for Criminal Contempt. By law, all sentences will run concurrently.

On November 2, 2024, Walsh entered a female relative’s home in violation of two orders of protection. He then severely beat the woman, causing several injuries, including three broken ribs and bruising all over he body.

On August 7, 2025, Walsh was found guilty of the four aforementioned charges.
