State Police have arrested a Village of Cayuga man following a long-term investigation into internet crimes against children.
Investigators say 23-year-old Douglas Baker was identified as a suspect after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported suspected child sexual exploitation material being shared on social media in April 2024. A search of Baker’s home that July led to the seizure of multiple electronic devices for forensic analysis.
Following a review of the evidence, Baker was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child under 17, a D felony, and possessing a sexual performance by a child, an E felony.
He was processed at the State Police barracks in Auburn and arraigned in Cayuga County Jail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
