Update: Woman Taken to Upstate after being Struck by Bus at Auburn Intersection

Update: More information has been released on the school bus versus pedestrian motor vehicle accident that occurred Thursday afternoon in Auburn.

Police have confirmed that the incident happened around 2:38p at the intersection of Genesee St and Loop Rd. The First Student School Bus was facing west on Genesee St in the left-hand turning lane when it turned left onto Loop Rd and struck a pedestrian who was reportedly walking east.

The 66-year-old woman was taken to Upstate University Hospital for a possible head injury. Police added she was admitted to the hospital “as a precautionary measure and treatment for the reported non-life-threatening injuries.” Her identity is not being released at this time.

There were children on board the bus at the time of the crash; however, no one on the bus reported any injuries, according to law enforcement.

Auburn Police were assisted at the scene by First Student personnel, State Police, and the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office.

The driver’s name is not being released as the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

FLX Local Media has received multiple unconfirmed reports of an accident involving a school bus and a pedestrian in Auburn on Thursday.

Reports began coming in of around 3:30p of the accident at the intersection of Genesee St and Loop Rd, accompanied by a large first responder presence. Investigators were also sighted at the scene.
