The Waterloo man accused of firing at police during an armed standoff in April is due back in Seneca County Court today.
46-year-old Randy Davis faces 13 charges, including three counts of attempted murder of a police officer, following the April 1 incident at the Mallard Crossing mobile home park. Prosecutors say Davis broke into his uncle’s home, assaulted 69-year-old Steven Linden, and stole several weapons before firing from multiple homes in the park.
Police say Davis ignored negotiations and even shot at propane tanks before tear gas was used to end the standoff. He pleaded not guilty in June, but the Finger Lakes Times reports in today’s hearing, Davis could enter a plea to some charges, or attorneys may argue pretrial motions before Judge Barry Porsch.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
