New Charges Filed Against Waterloo Standoff Suspect

SHARE NOW

State Police have charged the suspect in Tuesday’s standoff with authorities in Waterloo with eight felonies. Those charges are in addition to the five felonies already filed against Mark Davis, Junior, by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Department.

According to State Police, Randy Davis forced entry into Lot #11, assaulting his 69-year-old neighbor and stealing firearms. The victim was seriously injured and taken to Geneva General Hospital. Davis then entered Lot #12 and demanded a phone from the 42-year-old resident, who complied and fled. When law enforcement arrived, Davis opened fire, leading to a standoff. He later fired at propane tanks, creating a safety hazard. Teargas was then deployed into the residence, forcing Davis out, and he was taken into custody without further incident. No officers were injured.

Davis has been charged with:

  • Burglary 1st Degree (B Felony)
  • Assault 1st Degree (B Felony)
  • Five Counts of Attempted Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer (C Felony) – Filed by NYSP
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree (C Felony)

Tuesday afternoon, Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson announced his office was charging Randy Davis, Junior, with three counts of Attempted Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer and three counts of Menacing a Police Officer. The charges are directly related to Davis firing a firearm at two Deputies and a Sergeant from the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.

Davis is a two-time convicted felon and has no right to own or possess firearms in New York State.

Davis was taken to Seneca County Jail for CAP arraignment.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
