The City of Auburn is poised to accept two grants to replace fire and police department vehicles.
City Council will vote on Thursday on two resolutions to accept Community Resiliency, Economic Sustainability, and Technology Program (CREST) grants from the Dormitory Authority of New York State.
Back in February, the Auburn Fire Department submitted a request to State Senator Rachel May’s office for funding to replace two staff command vehicles, while the police department sought funding to replace three patrol vehicles. In August, both departments were informed they had been awarded $150,000 to offset the cost of new vehicles.
The fire department estimates replacing its vehicles will cost $155,924.54, and the police department estimates it will cost $158,6000 to replace its vehicles.
City Council will vote to accept the grants at its regular city council meeting on Thursday at 5:00p.
