SHARE NOW

A Geneva man is facing charges after allegedly sexually abusing a juvenile at a Cayuga County youth facility.

New York State Police report the arrest of 51-year-old Marvin Edmonds of Geneva, after an investigation into alleged inappropriate conduct at the Harriet Tubman Residential Center in Sennett.

According to police, an investigation determined Edmonds engaged in “an inappropriate interaction” with a resident while employed at the facility. Allegations were originally reported to the Justice Center and immediately referred to troopers for investigation.

Edmonds was arrested on Wednesday at his Geneva residence and taken to the trooper’s Auburn barracks for processing. He was then arraigned at Cayuga County CAP court. He has been charged with Sexual Abuse 2nd and Official Misconduct: Public Servant Performing Illegal Function, both misdemeanors.

Troopers were assisted by the New York State Justice Center and Harriet Tubman Residential Center staff in the matter. The investigation is ongoing.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
