EarthPlanter, a family-owned self-watering planters business based in Auburn, received enough votes in the final voting round to win the 2025 Coolest Thing Made in New York manufacturing contest.
The final two contestants, chosen by online public votes, were EarthPlanter and Corning Inc.
“These finals really embodied the spirit of this contest, showcasing a great locally produced product and having a community rally around one of its businesses that contribute to the local economy,” said Patrick Bailey, Communications Director, The Business Council of New York State, Inc. “EarthPlanter is a very unique and cool product made by a great Auburn company.”
Thirty-six businesses applied for this year’s contest and competed in the initial popular vote. The top 16 businesses that received the most votes advanced to the head-to-head bracket tournament. Weekly winners were decided by a public vote on the Made in New York website, allowing New Yorkers to have a direct say in determining the coolest product made in the state.
