Five people are facing felony charges after golf carts were allegedly taken from a Cayuga County golf course.
According to State Police, troopers, along with Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputies and Auburn Police Officers, responded to Meadowlark Drive in Weedsport around 2:26a on Tuesday for suspicious activity. Upon arrival, troopers say five individuals, four juveniles and one adult, were detained after fleeing on foot.
An investigation revealed that three golf carts were taken from Millstone Golf Course, near the Cayuga/Onondaga County line, without permission.
All five individuals were charged with felony counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property-3rd Value greater than $3,000. The adult, 19-year-old Scott Evans of Liverpool, was additionally charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child
The four juveniles were issued appearance tickets and released to their parents/guardians. Evans was taken processed at the trooper barracks in Auburn, then taken to the Cayuga County Jail to await arraignment.
State Police add that the investigation is ongoing.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
