9 A.M. UPDATE:
A Naples man is in serious condition after a crash on Monday afternoon in Ontario County.
The Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Cain Wright was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle north on State Route 247 when a Honda HR-V driven by Roger Loucks of Branchport entered his path from County Road 18.
Wright was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery for significant internal and orthopedic injuries. He remains in the hospital’s Trauma ICU.
Loucks and two passengers in the SUV were evaluated at the scene and were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
9 P.M. UPDATE: The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports all roads have reopened. No additional information about the accident has been released.
A motorcyclist was seriously injured Monday afternoon in a crash involving a passenger vehicle in Ontario County.
The collision happened around 2:30 p.m., prompting a response from Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies, Stanley Hall Gorham Ambulance, the Hopewell Fire Department, and the Gorham Fire Department.
The injured rider was airlifted by LifeNet to Strong Memorial Hospital.
As of 4 p.m., the area remained closed for the ongoing investigation. Deputies expected the closures to last for about two more hours and urged drivers to avoid the area.
Current road closures include:
State Route 247 between County Road 18 and Powell Road
County Road 18 between Middle Road and State Route 247
Depew Road between Mumby Road and State Route 247
Authorities say an update will be released once the roads reopen.
