The man accused of assaulting a 91-year-old woman in Auburn back in 2024 has been convicted in Cayuga County Court.
Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced that Steven Walsh was found guilty by a jury on Thursday of the following charges: Burglary in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Aggravated Criminal Contempt, and Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree. Grome Antonacci added that the jury deliberated for just over an hour before reaching its decision.
On November 2, 2024, Walsh entered the Auburn home of the 91-year-old relative in violation of two protection orders. He then violently beat her, causing serious injuries, including three broken ribs and bruising throughout her body. Walsh then fled the scene but was arrested two days later outside a Camillus store.
The Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree conviction came from a separate order of protection violation on October 31, 2024.
When sentenced, something scheduled for October 16, Walsh faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.
The case was handled by Chief Assistant District Attorney Christopher Valdina and Assistant District Attorney Amanda Raub.
