GoFundMe Launched for Survivor of Deadly Hopewell House Fire

In the aftermath of a tragic house fire earlier this month in Hopewell, family members of the victims have launched a GoFundMe campaign to support the survivor, Michael Wright, who lost his wife and nearly everything he owned in the blaze.

The fire broke out in the early morning hours of July 8, claiming the life of 70-year-old Deborah Wright and leaving her husband, 66-year-old Michael Wright, with second-degree burns and multiple injuries. Deborah, who had mobility issues and used a scooter, was unable to escape the burning home. Michael reportedly made several desperate attempts to rescue her, but was ultimately forced back by the intense flames. The home was destroyed, with only two exterior walls left standing. The couple’s vehicle was also lost in the fire.

Now, Michael’s family is asking for help from the public through a GoFundMe page created to assist with funeral expenses, medical care, daily needs, and rebuilding efforts.

“Mike escaped with only the clothes he was wearing while he slept,” said campaign organizer Linda Victor, Michael’s sister. “Our entire family is devastated by this loss, and we hope this fund can offer him some relief during this unimaginable time.”

All donations will go directly to Michael Wright to help him begin the long road to recovery.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
