Cayuga County’s 4-H Youth Fair is getting bigger.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Seneca County and its 4-H program have announced they will combine with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cayuga County for its annual 4-H fair and animal auction next week. The fair will take place from July 31 to August 2 at the Union Springs Fire Department (257 Cayuga Street, Union Springs).

The public is invited to view projects on animal science, plant science, entomology, home economics, and photography created by 4-H youth from both Cayuga and Seneca Counties.

Below is a schedule of events:

Thursday, July 31 (Public Welcome to all events except morning meeting)

  • 8:00 am – Morning Meeting
  • 10:00 am – Sheep herding exhibition
  • 12:00 pm – 4-H Poultry Show
  • 12:00 pm – Dairy Judging Clinic
  • 2:00 pm – 4-H Goat and Sheep Showmanship, Market Auction Show, and Breed Show

Friday August 1 (Public Welcome to all events except morning meeting)

  • 8:00 am –Morning Meeting
  • 9:00 am – 4-H Beef and Swine Showmanship, Market Auction Show, and 4-H Breed Show
  • 3:00 pm – Oxen Demonstration
  • 4:00 pm – 4-H Dairy Showmanship
  • 7:00 pm – All animal Costume Show

Saturday, August 2 (Public Welcome to all events except morning meeting and Buyer’s Reception)

  • 8:00 am – Morning Meeting
  • 9:30 am – 4-H Dairy Breed Show
  • 11:00 am – Rabbit and Cavy Show
  • 12:00-2:00 pm: Market Auction Buyer Registration
  • 1:00 pm: Buyers’ Reception (Registered Buyers and Exhibitors)
  • 1:30 pm: Political Leader’s Show
  • 3:00 pm: 3rd Annual 4-H Market Livestock Auction
  • 5:00 pm: Tentative Release Time for all 4-H Animals and Youth Building Projects
