A serious crash involving two vehicles at Parkway Plaza in Canandaigua left an 18-year-old driver critically injured on Saturday evening.
According to the Canandaigua Police Department, 18-year-old Victor Giso, of Caledonia, was driving a 2015 Ford sedan westbound on Eastern Boulevard at around 7 p.m. when he veered off the road, crossed the center median and the eastbound lane, went over a ditch, and ultimately crashed into a 2023 Jeep SUV stopped at a stop sign in the Parkway Plaza parking lot.
The Jeep was being driven by 55-year-old John Quinn, of Webster. Quinn suffered minor injuries in the collision. His passenger was unharmed.
Emergency responders initially transported Giso to Thompson Hospital. He was later airlifted by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where he remains in guarded condition with life-threatening injuries.
Police believe Giso may have lost consciousness for an unknown reason prior to the crash. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
The Canandaigua Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Canandaigua Emergency Squad, and the Canandaigua Fire Department.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
