Woman Injured While Escaping Cayuga County Fire

One person was injured and displaced by a house fire in Cayuga County early Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out around 1:40 a.m. at a home on Ledyard Road in Poplar Ridge. A woman was taken to the hospital with burns to her hands and was assisted by the Red Cross after being displaced by the fire.

Crews had the blaze mostly extinguished by 2:45 a.m., and most emergency personnel cleared the scene by 4 a.m. There is no word yet on a cause.
