A 41-year-old man has died following a drowning incident in the Town of Seneca on Monday afternoon.

At around 5:00 p.m., emergency crews from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Oaks Corners Fire Department, Seneca Castle Fire Department, Hopewell Fire Department, and Finger Lakes Ambulance responded to the area of Seneca Castle Road and Vogt Road for a reported drowning.

According to a preliminary investigation by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, the man had been fishing alone from a kayak on a private pond when the vessel apparently capsized, causing him to fall into the water.

Authorities say no foul play is suspected, and the investigation remains ongoing.
