A man is listed in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital after being shot in the upper body in the city of Geneva.
At around midnight on Tuesday, Geneva Police responded to the Emergency Department at Geneva General Hospital for a man who had been shot in the upper body. Officers were able to determine that the man was shot while in a home on Exchange Street. The unidentified victim was taken to Rochester by Finger Lakes Ambulance to undergo surgery. The man is listed in guarded condition.
The Geneva Police Department’s Detective Bureau said it developed two primary suspects in the shooting.
At around 9:30 Tuesday night, Geneva Police, assisted by the Ontario County and Wayne County SWAT teams and New York State Police, executed a search warrant at a home on Exchange Street. One of the suspects, 19-year-old Jonathan Bey, of Geneva, was taken into custody. Bey was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon and was brought to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
The Geneva Police Department is actively searching for the second suspect involved in this incident.
The Detective Bureau believes this was an isolated incident and that there is no immediate threat to the public.

It’s the second shooting in the city in just three days. Police are still investigating a shooting Saturday night on Exchange Street. No one was injured in that shooting.
