SHARE NOW

For the second time in less than a week, Ithaca Police are investigating an alleged assault as a potential hate crime.

Shortly after midnight Saturday morning, officers were called to the 200 block of East Aurora Street in the Commons for a dispute. Two victims told police that four people physically attacked them and fled the area. The suspects were described as two black males and two white males. One of the black males was wearing a gray sweatshirt and black pants, and the other black male was wearing blue jeans and a black sweatshirt. One of the white males was reportedly wearing tan pants and a gray shirt and the other white male wore gray pants and a gray shirt. During the alleged assault, the suspects reportedly made derogatory comments about the victim’s ethnicity.

An assault that occurred the weekend before in Ithaca is under investigation as a potential hate crime after the suspect allegedly made derogatory comments about the victim’s gender identity.
