City of Geneva Responds to Accident Lawsuit

SHARE NOW

The city of Geneva claims the man who says he was injured in a collision with its Detective and his patrol car was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.

John Sweet filed a lawsuit against the city, its police department, and Detective Steve Vine for a March 2023 accident at the intersection of Lewis and Genesee Streets last month. Sweet claims Vine was at fault and he suffered “severe and permanent” injuries as a result.

The Finger Lakes Times reports that in the police report filed after the accident, neither driver reported any injuries and there was no mention of any charges or tickets being issued.
