Geneva City Manager Releases Update on Police Chief Colton

SHARE NOW

We learned earlier this week that Geneva Police Chief Matthew Colton had been placed on paid administrative leave by the city last Friday. On Wednesday, City Manager Amie Hendrix provided an update on the situation:

“On January 5, 2024, Police Chief Matthew Colton began paid administrative leave pending a personnel investigation. There has been no discipline implemented at this time, nor are any disciplinary charges pending, and this is not a suspension. During this time of absence, Lieutenant Ronald Eveland will be serving in the role of Acting Police Chief.

“I am confident that the men and women of the Police Department will continue to support the City as they are led by Lieutenant Eveland while he serves in this temporary role. We remain committed to providing our staff, residents, and visitors of the City of Geneva welcoming and safe spaces to live, learn, work, and play.”
