We will find out the new nickname for the Canandaigua City School District….or IF there will be a nickname on Friday.
Students, staff, district residents, and alumni voted for Bears, Cardinals, or Gray Wolves. A fourth option was to move forward without a nickname and mascot. The option that received the most votes was presented to the Board of Education this week and is expected to be made public before the weekend.
Canandaigua had to relinquish its Braves mascot after the State Education Dept. ruled all schools with Native American mascots must replace them by the end of this school year.
