The choices are Bears, Cardinals, Gray Wolves, or just simply, “No.” And the question that residents of the Canandaigua City School District will be answering over the next five days is “Do you want a nickname or mascot?
If the voting finds that a majority of residents want a mascot and nickname, the option with the most votes will be presented to the school board for approval at the end of the month.
Canandaigua had to relinquish its Braves mascot after the State Education Dept. ruled all schools with Native American mascots must replace them by the end of this school year.
