Charges have been filed against the Yates County man involved in a several-hour-long standoff with police after allegedly holding a woman against her will earlier this month.
63-year-old William Morgan, Senior, of Rushville, is accused of striking the victim, a town of Potter resident, threatening her life, and disabling her telephone all while preventing her from leaving a residence in Rushville on April 3rd. The woman was eventually able to escape through a bathroom window at the back of the residence. The incident prompted a “Shelter in Place” from the Yates County Sheriff’s Department for residents around Rubin Drive.
Morgan was arrested Tuesday at Clifton Springs Hospital where he had been held since being taken into custody. He has been charged with criminal mischief, unlawful imprisonment, aggravated harassment, and harassment.
