- The Case Research Laboratory: Birthplace of Movietone – May 10 at 7:00 pm – Our final lecture in the Spring Lecture Series connects with our exhibit There’ll Be some Changes Made: Geneva in the 1920s and focuses on the development of sound film by Theodore Case in Auburn, N.Y., during that decade. Hayley Boothe, Curator of the Case Research Laboratory at the Cayuga Museum in Auburn will share this story. The program is free and open to the public.
- History Happy Hour: A Brief History of Militia and National Guard in Geneva – May 18 at Lake Drum Brewing from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. – Join Curator John Marks, as he shares a captioned slide show highlighting images of Geneva’s militia and National Guard since the Civil War. The program will include photos of the Geneva Armory.
- Online Auction – Historic Geneva is hosting an online auction through 5pm on May 7. A variety of items and gift certificates for goods, services, and experiences from Finger Lakes businesses and organizations are up for bid. A link to the auction site is the Historic Geneva website.
- Rose Hill is open for guided tours Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm, and Sunday, 12 to 4 pm. The East Tenant Cottage contains two exhibits about the workers at Rose Hill – One House, Many People and Slavery in New York State. Along with the regular guided tours, there are several specialty tours – Behind The Scenes, Bedroom Tales and Outside Rose Hill: An Exploration of Landscape and Architecture. These tours are not the same as the regular tour and each one lasts an hour. As space is limited, reservations are required for the specialty tours.
- Cooperstown Bus Trip – Wednesday, June 21 – Join Historic Geneva and Bus America Group Tours for a trip to Cooperstown. The bus will leave Geneva at 7:30 am and the estimated return time is 8 pm.
