Keuka College will join a new athletic conference later this decade after accepting an invitation to become a full-time member of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
College officials announced Wednesday that Keuka will transition from the Empire 8 Athletic Conference, which it joined in 2020, to the AMCC beginning with the 2027–28 academic year.
College President Amy Storey said the move is aimed at enhancing the experience for student-athletes, noting the conference’s alignment with the college’s focus on academics, community, and student success.
Conference officials also welcomed the addition, with Commissioner Jeromy Yetter saying Keuka’s commitment to academic excellence and student-athlete development fits well with the league’s mission.
The AMCC currently includes a group of non-football institutions with similar resources, something college leaders say makes it a strong fit for the Wolves. By the time Keuka joins, the conference will have nine full-time members, including Carlow, Hilbert, La Roche, Mount Aloysius, Penn State Altoona, Penn State Behrend, Pitt-Bradford, and Pitt-Greensburg.
Keuka sponsors 16 varsity sports, with men’s programs including baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, and soccer, and women’s programs including basketball, field hockey, softball, volleyball, and more.
Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Jon Accardi said the college is looking forward to building new rivalries and expanding championship opportunities within the conference.
The announcement comes shortly after the Keuka men’s basketball team captured the Empire 8 title and made its first appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Keuka College, located on a 157-acre campus in the Finger Lakes region, is recognized as a top regional university in the North by U.S. News & World Report.
