Hobart College Head Baseball Coach Brad Cook has been named the 2026 ABCA/ATEC Regional Coach of the Year, an honor awarded by the American Baseball Coaches Association and voted on by the organization’s membership.

The recognition follows a record-breaking season for the Statesmen. In just the program’s fourth varsity season since returning from a 27-year hiatus, Cook guided Hobart to a 32-15 record, the most wins in a single season in program history.

Hobart finished 11-5 in Liberty League play, placing second in the Liberty League West Division. The Statesmen advanced to the Liberty League Tournament championship round and forced an if-necessary game before finishing as tournament runners-up.

The strong season earned Hobart its second NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 1992. The Statesmen opened the Salisbury Regional with a 4-1 victory over nationally ranked Mount Union, marking the program’s first NCAA Tournament win and first victory over a nationally ranked opponent. Hobart later defeated Mount Union again, 10-1, before being eliminated by regional host Salisbury.

“Brad’s recognition as Regional Coach of the Year is a reflection of the outstanding culture he has built within our baseball program,” said Hobart and William Smith Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian Miller. “This record-breaking season is a testament to Brad’s leadership, the dedication of his staff, and the commitment of our student-athletes.”

Cook is assisted by Vincent Redmond, Ed Redmond, and Nick Serce.

The Statesmen established more than a dozen team records during the 2026 season, including marks for hits, doubles, runs scored, stolen bases, innings pitched, pitching strikeouts, and fielding percentage.

Nationally, Hobart led NCAA Division III in triples with 24 and ranked among the top 25 teams in several categories, including fourth in fielding percentage.

In four seasons at the helm, Cook has compiled a 76-72 career record and has increased the team’s win total each year, culminating in this season’s program-record 32 victories.
