Hobart Statesmen Edge Bonnies 13-12 in Tight Lacrosse Win

Hobart lacrosse picked up a hard-fought 13-12 win over St. Bonaventure on Friday, giving the Statesmen a much-needed victory to improve to 3-10 on the season. The Bonnies, also at 4-10, made it close until the end, but Hobart held on for the one-goal result.

In Triple-A ball, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders edged the Rochester Red Wings 4-3, a tight finish that will sting for Rochester fans. The Red Wings dropped a close one on the road, unable to push across the tying run late.

The Yankees had the biggest number on the board Friday, rolling past Houston 12-4 behind four home runs to extend their winning streak to seven games. New York improves to 17-9 while the Astros fall to 10-17 — a notable reversal of fortunes for two teams that have met in the postseason in recent years. It’s a regular-season result, but a dominant one worth noting.
