Cornell, Yankees Win; Knicks Tie Series at 2-2

Cornell men’s lacrosse edged Harvard 11-9 on Saturday to improve to 10-3 on the season. The Big Red continue to build a strong case heading into the postseason stretch, and the win keeps them in solid position in the Ivy League standings. In the other college lacrosse result, Syracuse fell to Notre Dame 16-11, dropping to 11-4. The loss stings a bit for the Orange, who had been playing well — Notre Dame at 10-1 is one of the better teams in the country, so the margin wasn’t a shock, but it’s a result Syracuse will want to clean up before the tournament.

On the professional side, the Yankees extended their winning streak to eight games with an 8-3 win over the Astros in Houston. Spencer Wells hit the go-ahead home run in the seventh inning to put the game away. New York moves to 18-9, one of the better records in the American League at this point in the season. Meanwhile in the NBA playoffs, the Knicks tied their first-round series against Atlanta at two games apiece, winning 114-98. Karl-Anthony Towns put together a triple-double to pace New York, which will now head back to Madison Square Garden for Game 5.

No games Saturday for the Bills, Sabres, Giants, Rangers, Red Wings, or Knighthawks.
