World War I Air Raid Alarm Horn Stolen in Oneida County

SHARE NOW

New York State Police are investigating the theft of a historic military artifact reported last week in Oneida County.

Troopers assigned to Old Forge say they received a complaint on February 27 about stolen property from a home on Bridge Road. Investigators determined the theft likely occurred sometime between mid-January and late February.

Police say the item taken was an original World War I-era British Klaxon Zeppelin air raid alarm horn, dated around 1908 and painted army green. The horn had been mounted to a wooden porch pillar at the residence.

Authorities believe someone used a bladed tool to cut away part of the wooden pillar to remove the horn. Both the horn and the section of wood it was attached to were stolen.

Anyone with information is asked to contact State Police at 315-366-6000 and reference case number NY2600293569.
