Wegmans Food Markets has issued a recall of Locatelli Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese sold under Wegmans’ scale labels due to the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes, the company announced.
The recalled product was sold at Wegmans stores in 10 states and Washington, D.C., including New York, between November 14 and November 24, 2025. The affected states are Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
The cheese was packaged in plastic tubs labeled Locatelli Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese with Wegmans’ scale labels. The UPC number begins with 2-77580, with the remaining digits varying by weight. All lot codes are included in the recall and the product has been removed from store shelves.

Wegmans said the recall was issued out of an abundance of caution. No illnesses related to the product have been reported.
Consumers who have purchased Locatelli Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese from Wegmans are urged to return it for a full refund.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly individuals, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems.
