UPDATE: Letchworth State Park made the following post on its Facebook page at 1:30 p.m. “The south end of Letchworth State Park from the Portageville entrance to Castile entrance is open to normal operation. Access to the north end of the park is still restricted.“
The New York State Parks Police is reporting that Letchworth State Park is closed at this time due to a police investigation.
A number of Rochester area media outlets are reporting the closure is in response to a homicide investigation in Irondequoit. It is believed a person of interest in that shooting could be at the State Park.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to avoid the hiking trails and camping area until further notice.
