SHARE NOW

The person critically injured in Thursday morning’s tour bus accident on Interstate 490 in Chili has died.

The victim was one of 28 people taken to Rochester area hospitals after the bus they were riding on crashed near Exit 4 at around 7 o’clock.  The unidentified individual died Thursday night.

The driver was ticketed for fatigued driving, speeding, unsafe lane change, and driving without a seat belt.

The bus was traveling from New York City to Niagara Falls.

Rochester Regional Health released the following update on Friday regarding the patients it received from the incident:

“Two of Rochester Regional Health’s hospitals provided treatment and care to 14 individuals involved in yesterday’s bus crash on 490. Since our last update, 9 patients have been discharged, 1 is expected to be discharged within the next 24 hours and 4 were transferred to other area hospitals.
Rochester Regional Health has continued to work with Monroe County to coordinate next steps for discharging patients including family reunification, food, clothing, shelter and transportation.
Thanks to the partnership and great relationship with Monroe County, EMS and our partners at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, our hospital team members were able to manage the influx effectively, providing care and family support to those involved in the accident. Our thoughts are with all individuals involved in the accident and their families during this challenging time.”
