In the morning hours of Friday, December 27th, the Syracuse Police Department was made aware of a specific threat to Destiny USA. Working closely with our local, state, and federal partners, as well as management at Destiny USA, it was quickly determined that this information was both specific and actionable. Therefore, with the public’s safety in mind, a decision was made, in conjunction with Destiny USA ownership, to suspend operations at Destiny USA based on the information received.
After an investigation, an individual was taken into custody without incident. There is no active threat to Destiny USA, and the mall will be reopening.
The safety and security of visitors, employees, and tenants remain our highest priority. We are proud to have a strong working partnership with the ownership group at Destiny USA, which enabled us to ensure that the public’s safety was paramount throughout this incident. We would also like to thank the multiple other law enforcement partners who helped us bring this situation to a positive and safe conclusion.
