    Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 12 and 18 inches, with localized amounts up to 22 inches. Northwest winds gusting as high as 35 mph Monday afternoon will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.

    Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania.

    Until 7 PM EST Monday.
    IMPACTS
    Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Snowfall will likely be very heavy at times this afternoon into the evening with hourly rates potentially exceeding 2 inches per hour. The snow tapers down this evening. Temperatures will be very cold throughout this storm, hovering in the upper single digits to teens the entire time, with colder wind chills.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat. Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

Two Thruway Accidents Under Investigation

State Police are investigating two separate crashes on the New York State Thruway in Genesee County.

At around 7:20 Monday morning, State Police responded to I-90 eastbound, between Exit 47 (Rochester/LeRoy/I-490/NY Route 19) and Exit 48 (Batavia/NY Route 98) for two separate personal injury crashes.

At mile marker 387, a rolled-over tractor-trailer hauling bags of dirt blocked all eastbound lanes. The driver of the tractor-trailer was trapped and has been extricated and transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

A secondary crash occurred at mile marker 387.2 eastbound involving a pickup truck that rear-ended a tractor-trailer. The driver of the pickup truck was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital with critical injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
