The two occupants of a buggy that was struck by a car in Central New York on Sunday are in critical condition at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
According to State Police, a 2014 grey Kia Sedona driven by a 66-year-old man from Oswego, was headed north on State Route 3 in the town of Mexico, when he attempted to pass the Amish Buggy that was traveling on the east shoulder. The driver of the Kia attempted to merge back into the driving lane after sighting oncoming traffic and struck the rear portion of the buggy.
The occupants of the buggy were a 21-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy.
The driver of the Kia was taken to Oswego Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
