    Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 12 and 18 inches, with localized amounts up to 22 inches. Northwest winds gusting as high as 35 mph Monday afternoon will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.

    IMPACTS
    Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Snowfall will likely be very heavy at times this afternoon into the evening with hourly rates potentially exceeding 2 inches per hour. The snow tapers down this evening. Temperatures will be very cold throughout this storm, hovering in the upper single digits to teens the entire time, with colder wind chills.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat. Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

Troopers Release Super Bowl DWI Enforcement Numbers

The New York State Police on Wednesday announced that troopers issued 6,876 tickets during a special STOP DWI traffic enforcement period over Super Bowl Weekend. During the campaign, which started on Friday, February 9, 2024, and ran through Sunday, February 11, 2024.

State Police increased patrols and conducted sobriety checkpoints to deter, identify, and arrest impaired drivers. The initiative was funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) and was also carried out by local law enforcement agencies across the state.

During this enforcement period, State Troopers arrested 139 people for DWI and investigated 245 crashes, which injured 37 people. State Police did not respond to any fatal crashes during the weekend.

As part of the enforcement, Troopers also targeted drivers speeding and aggressive drivers across the state. Below is a sampling of the total tickets that were issued.

During last year’s Super Bowl enforcement, State Police issued 8,311 tickets and arrested 141 people for DWI.
