A Saratoga County man is dead after he shot at State Police at their barracks in Saratoga.
The preliminary investigation has determined that 69-year-old David Levine arrived at SP Malta with a hunting-style rifle and fired several rounds at the barracks. Troopers exited the barracks and found Levine standing in the parking lot armed with a long gun. They instructed Levine to drop the firearm. Levine refused to follow multiple commands and aimed the gun in the direction of Troopers, at which time the Troopers fired their division-issued firearms, fatally striking him
Investigators confirmed Levine fired several rounds into the occupied barracks. Multiple body-worn cameras captured the incident, and due to the active investigation, that footage will not be released at this time.
The Attorney General’s Office has been notified and responded to the scene.
