State Police issued over 12,171 tickets statewide as part of their Thanksgiving holiday traffic enforcement period.
Running from November 22-26, troopers also arrested 178 people for DWIs and investigated 765 crashes. No fatalities were reported. These numbers are down from last year which saw troopers issue 14,263 tickets and arrest 229 people for DWIs.
“The results of this year’s campaign show that far too many people are still making the wrong decision and getting behind the wheel. We have zero tolerance for dangerous and distracted drivers, and the State Police remains committed to keeping our roadways safe for all. I applaud the dedicated work of our Troopers and thank the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee for their continued support,” stated New York State Police Acting Superintendent Dominick Chiumento in a press release.
