State Police arrested a Cortland man after he allegedly struck another person in the head with a sock filled with rocks.
On Tuesday, Troopers were dispatched by the Cortland County 911 Center to reports of a disturbance between two men at a residence in the town of Cortlandville. An investigation determined that 51-year-old Gordon Darling and another man got into a physical fight outside of the home before Darling allegedly struck the victim in the head with the sock.
Darling was charged with felony assault.
The victim was taken to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center where he was treated and released.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
