Three teenage boys have been charged in connection with the murder of a 15-year-old boy in the city of Syracuse last month.
Syracuse Police arrested three 16-year-old boys Tuesday on charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. The victim, Deron McGee, Junior, was allegedly shot in the back of the head by at least one of the teens.
According to prosecutors, the teens were all riding in the same car that was traveling down Westmoreland Avenue in Syracuse when the three 16-year-olds started to fire handguns at a group of pedestrians outside of an apartment complex. During the barrage of gunfire, McGee was shot in the head as he sat in the back seat.
Investigators say none of the pedestrians returned gunfire on the car and McGee was struck by one bullet.
McGee was dropped off at University Hospital where he died nine days later.
The three suspects are all being held without bail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
