A GoFundMe page has been established for the victim’s family.
State Police are investigating a drowning that happened in the Genesee River in Allegany County.
On Thursday at 8 p.m. Troopers out of SP Amity responded to a teen who was swimming in the Genesee River near State Route 19 and Oramel Hill Road in the town of Caneadea. Investigation determined that two youths went into the Genesee River to swim, but a 15-year-old boy was swept away by the current and did not resurface.
The NYSP Underwater Recovery Team, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and multiple other resources were deployed in the search for the missing teen. The victim was located Friday at approximately 11:30 A.M.
The name will not be released at this time until all next of kin are notified.
