SHARE NOW

A Syracuse man is facing multiple charges after assaulting a state trooper over the weekend.

According to State Police, 27-year Quadeer Lumpkin was pulled over Saturday morning, just after 1:00a, for a traffic violation. When the trooper smelled alcohol and noted Lumpkin’s slurred speech, she initiated a sobriety check.

When she placed him under arrest for driving while intoxicated, Lumpkin elbowed the trooper in the face. The officer used OC spray to subdue Lumpkin, who was then taken to Onondaga County Jail and held without bail.

He has been charged with Assault, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration, and DWI.

The trooper was taken to Upstate University Hospital for a fractured nose.
